My Review: 4.5 stars

Nine short stories full of life lessons. The Intro was actually after the first story that's quite a nice change. The Author & Illustrators biography morphed and got that creepy disfigured/distorted images also other odd details.

I'd like to share some of my favorite and memorable lines, moments and thoughts about this book:

~Sometimes the fall you die or wake up [First story: Fear of Falling (ok I paraphrased that because the moral of the story is basically about falling, failure in life that's how you learn and have to move on)].
~His Madness keeps him sane (by Delirium).
~U.S has a first and last Emperor!
~Orpheus story (Morpheus/Dream's son) reminds me of Jack the halloween kind of story.
~Parliament of Rooks about Adam's wife(s) :0
~Ah the Ramadan, the beautiful Baghdad!
~In which I also thought about other soft places that ever existed.
~Simplicity and disguises works!

This truly made me realize how complex of a book this is,the characters, their names, personality and all that stuff oh wow! The series made me think about the sandman in a whole new level!

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness | Book Review

Category:
Fiction, Young Adult
Format: Hardcover,ebook
Page Count: 215,124
Language: English
Published: September 27th 2011 by Walker Books (first published March 5th 2011)
ISBN: 1406311529 (ISBN13: 9781406311525)
About the book:
The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.

But it isn't the monster Conor's been expecting. He's been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he's had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming...

This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.

It wants the truth. (more)

My Review: 5 out of 5 stars
I'm immediately warped into Conor's world...I thought it would be scary but this was a different kind of monster.A psychological case yet in some ways real truly this story is about his way to cope with his life, other sort of changes and challenges he must face.I like the Yew Tree fact I learned a lot from it I didn't even know that it has some very amazing cancer healing properties and I love how the monster narrates each tale in which you might thought this but then you'll be proven wrong or convince otherwise.

It's really tough to have someone sick in your family.Conor handled it rather well for his age and proved that he's a strong kid in the making.A tear jerking story!

My Review: 3.5 stars

Funny and adorable! I wish Paul wrote more letters.Since he's a kid I saw some typos here and there which I find very cute and charming. My favorite story/letter of his is when his teacher Mr. Nick asked them to write about three important things his final answer made me laugh that kid sure is something! lots of potential.I hope he'll continue to jut down his adventures, school life, all the things he wants to learn and share to others, just basically all the things he could possibly think of who knows it may lead to Mr. Alien Part II or something else I suppose?
